Toy Roundup for Katrina Victims
We all know what a distraction it is to have bored children on our hands. So, Pack 229 is going to collect toys, books and games for the children that suffered from Katrina. New items are welcome, but we would prefer gently used ones that your son(or children) has personally donated. Please encourage your children to ‘review’ their toys and books and kindly consider parting with some to help those less fortunate children.
A box will be at every den and pack meeting for donations. The Senior Webelos have kindly agreed to manage the project by separating toys and books by age, organizing and preparing them for donation. We are still looking for a good distribution channel, suggestions are welcome.
Dues
Almost half our Scouts have not paid their annual dues yet. Annual dues are $85 and checks can be made payable to ‘Pack 229’. If you aren’t sure if you’ve paid, please contact Christophe Escobar, our new treasurer. He can help you. St. Theresa School families can drop off in the Scout folder in the school office(the red one on the end)
Popcorn Sales
The Show-N-Sell popcorn sale is over. We started off with a large bang. The participation was excellent and we sold over $1,400. The Lowes crew took the record selling over $200 an HOUR. The second weekend though, we sold only half of that amount and we were not able to fully staff the locations due to poor participation. We sold $2000 of the $2,500 we purchased.
But if you didn’t get to participate, your chance is coming! Oct. 1st, we begin the program. For the month of October, your Scout will be able to sell popcorn to friends, family and of course, door-to-door.
Mr. Snyder has graciously agreed to be our Popcorn Kernel this year; hurray Scott!
Medical Forms
We still need your medical forms. Please complete the Class-1 medical form and turn it in to Kate Denefe, R.N. our Pack Medic. There is an envelope in the St. Theresa School office specifically for Kate. It’s inside the Scout folder. You may also deliver it to a leader, please put it in an envelope.
ScoutTrack
When each parent was entered into ScoutTrack, their information was kept private. If you would like to share your contact information with the rest of the pack, you may select ‘Change your profile’ There’s a checkbox at the bottom. Uncheck the box and your information will appear in the Pack directory. Only Pack families will be able to see it.
If you have a problem with ScoutTrack, please do not use the ‘Send questions/comments to ScoutTrack.com tech support’ option. Those emails go to the folks that run the site. They can’t help with any Pack issues. And it delays getting you a response. So, please email a leader or myself(cubmaster@pack229.org) with any issues.
We will now have a laptop available at all regular den and pack meetings so that parents can enter achievement and elective work for their son.
Uniform
Please remember that all meetings are Class-A events unless specifically stated as Class-B(the t-shirt). You MAY NOT wear Class-B t-shirts to St. Theresa School UNLESS it's SPIRIT Day. The Class-A uniform is however an acceptable substitute for the daily uniform.
Please wear uniforms with proper insignia and in neat and clean condition. For more information, check the FAQ.
