In past years we leveraged a multitude of communication platforms, which has led to confusion on where to get the latest information. Going forward our source of truth will be out Cub Scout Pack 229 webpage. We will continue to provide updates via email and archive the information on this page.

October 16 | Last week of Popcorn Season 2023!

Pack 229 - We are ALMOST THERE!!

With one week of Popcorn Sales to go, we are within $500 of meeting our

Pack GOAL of $22,500!

Last weekend, we had a great team of Scouts close out our Storefront sales with a great weekend of over $3500 in sales! Thank you to:

Luke & Josiah Leyba

Estin & Evelyn Schreiber

Eli Larson

Emmett Mills

Marielle Carfi

Corbin Casavant

Brooklynn Durant

Evan Staight

For your hard work!

In addition, Mason Hesseltine and August Jones knocked it out of the park at City Market the first week of October, selling out of inventory in their first storefront of the season. Thanks guys!

Over the past week, several Scouts stepped up to the challenge of selling one (or more!) bag of popcorn to help our Pack reach our goal. Thank you to:

Evan Staight

Jack Helmkamp

Wes Weaver

Levi Figgs

Our Pack has, to date, sold $22,000 in popcorn and raised over $1000 in donations to Heroes and Helpers, to support these groups both locally and throughout the state. As we go into this last week of sales, please consider if you have a moment to support your Scout in doing door-to-door or online sales. It will assist our Pack in reaching a spectacular goal and support our Scouts in participating in so many fun activities this year.

Thanks for all you do!

Heather Larson

October 12 | Heading into the Final Stretch

I wanted to share this great promotion as we head into our final week of Popcorn sales!

PACK 229 is less than $750 away from our goal, which means that if every Scout sells 1 bag of popcorn between now & October 21, we will have EXCEEDED our Pack goal!!

This promotion is for ALL app sales, so anything that is entered into the App between now & 10/18 will give the Scout 1.75 points! This is a great way for kiddos to hit the next rewards level more quickly.

October 4 | Popcorn Sales 2023

Hello all! I wanted to give a quick update on our Popcorn Sales as we head into the final stretch!

September 21 | Popcorn Sale This Weekend

Hello all!

Thanks for signing up to sell popcorn this weekend at

ACE in GYPSUM on Saturday

OR

Ridley's in Gypsum on Sunday

I apologize for the delay in getting this email out this week; we have had trouble coordinating our popcorn delivery and so things are happening on a later timeline than usual. Thank you for your patience!

I will have inventory and tables available for pickup Friday; I will be in and out of the house all day, but please note that you can pull them out of my garage if you don't need me to help you out with anything.

I am sending kiddos with as much inventory as we can sustain :); we have a lot of new product and I just don't know what's going to sell. That said - it's great if you can sell it all, but please know that it is about 1.5x as much in $$ as I was sending last year, so it's more likely you'll have a bit left over :)

Please plan on dropping off the table/cash box/etc at my house on Saturday before 2 or between 12-3:30  on Sunday, and closing out your storefront sales with me then as well. I will not be at the Regatta this year!

Please email or text me today to let me know that you'll be picking up; if I can't be present I will text you a picture of the things you'll need to get from my garage. There will also be an inventory sheet that you'll need to initial and take a picture of for your records; I'll keep the original for mine. (970) 3313468.

Thanks,

Heather

September 10 | Scout Rally is today at 4PM! | Please Pay Dues

Our Scout Rally is here! This afternoon will formally kick off the year and welcome new Scouts to join our ranks. We'll gather as a pack to discuss the calendar, important information for parents, and then break out into dens to plan the year ahead. Please remind any prospective scouts to join us this afternoon at Calvary

Volunteers Required

Cub Scouts thrives on the commitment of volunteers, particularly parents and community members, who provide enriching experiences for our young Scouts. Today, we urge parents to step up and support their Den and/or Pack. Whether it's leading a Den meeting, co-leading a pack event, or taking on a leadership role, your involvement is crucial and greatly valued. Your support ensures that we can hold all of our planned events.

Please see the below volunteer signup sheet that will be at tonight’s rally. We will be happy to chat about each event and what is required to co-chair.

Rally Agenda

Tonight we’ll meet at 4:00 and kick off shortly after. We’ll spend about 20-30 minutes as a pack highlighting our 2023/4 calendar and other annual information. We will then break into dens where parents can ask more detailed questions and collaborate with their Den leader on the year ahead. Finally we’ll come back together as a pack to close the evening out, clean up, and answer any open questions.

Dues

Please pay your dues online via Cheddar - additional details are on our pack website.

See you tonight!

September 5 | Scout Rally Night on Sunday, Sep 10 at 4PM + Updates!

UPCOMING EVENTS | 2023-4 CALENDAR

Sunday, September 10 at 4PM | Scout Rally Night + Sept Den Meeting

Sunday, September 24 at 4PM | Rain Gutter Regatta

The Raingutter Regatta is a fun Cub Scout activity. The Scouts use a kit to build a trimaran sailboat that is “wind-powered” by blowing on the sail. They can work to make their boat more aerodynamic, and they can decorate it. The Cub Scouts then race their boats in water-filled rain gutters at the pack meeting.

Pickup of the kits will occur at the Rally Night and more information about the event will come next week.

I wanted to make sure everyone was aware of all of the activities happening at our Ice Cream Social & Popcorn Rally TOMORROW, Sunday August 27, @ 3:30 at Brush Creek Park & Pavilion.

First, please wear your Class B uniform t-shirts, as we will have our new & prospective Cub Scouts joining us! We are looking forward to seeing many familiar and unfamiliar faces, please help us in welcoming new Scouts of all ages.

Secondly, I have been fielding lots of questions about Trail's End signups, how it all works, and what in the world is happening with these popcorn sales - all will be revealed!  I will begin sharing our Popcorn Info at about 3:45. We will have:

Siblings are welcome to join us at this event, and we look forward to getting our 2023 season off to a great start!

PLEASE NOTE - this is the time to get your popcorn info in person! I will not be doing a detailed review at the rally, but there will be info sheets available.

Thanks and I hope you and your kiddo had a great first week back at school, or at home, or wherever you chose to be!

If you read to the end - ask me for a prize at the Rally!

Thanks,

Heather Larson

August 20 | Popcorn Season  2023!!

Hello all!

We have had so many storefront signups already! Wow y'all!! Thanks!

I wanted to address a couple of concerns that have come up:

1) The Trail's End site was glitchy yesterday. If you had trouble creating an account or signing up for Storefronts, please try again today.

2) There are October dates available; 10/7 at City Market Eagle. You do have to navigate to the October calendar to see it :)

3) We have a few sign ups available in Vail - I know this is a drive, but if it is possible for your family, I encourage you to check it out! We are trying to spread out through the valley, as our end-of-season sellers last year were getting a saturated downvalley market, and we want all of our Scouts to have the best experience we can provide.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the Kickoff next Sunday - we will have popcorn tasting, info on prizes, and other treats! Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions :)

Thanks,

Thank you,

Heather Larson

August 19 | Popcorn Season  2023!!

Good morning! All Popcorn Storefronts  are LIVE! Congratulations to Brooklynn Durant, who has made our FIRST sale  of the season!!

Storefront Sales for the 2023 season begin on September 2!! Shifts will be 1.5-2 hours, and with that encourage Scouts to sign up individually to increase their individual sales! Please note - the first sales weekend is Labor Day, and Storefronts are available on Saturday at ACE VAIL and Sunday at ACE GYPSUM

Sign up for Storefronts is OPEN for returning Scouts. To sign up for shifts, accept payment for door to door and Storefront sales, and track your Scout's sales, please download the Trail's End app: https://www.trails-end.com/app. We have also added a few new Storefront locations for the 2023 season. As you may remember from last year, Storefronts are an opportunity for Scouts to sell to a larger part of the community without having to go door-to-door.

We will have online & door-to-door sale information at the Popcorn Kickoff & Ice Cream Social on Sunday, August 27 @ 3:30, at the Brush Creek Park & Pavilion, as well as information about new rewards Scouts will receive for selling Popcorn!  We will also have a special opportunity for Den Storefront sales at Wal-Mart in Avon, which will be discussed at the Kickoff!

Notes about Trail's End:

Please note that to sign up for a Storefront and earn Trail's End rewards, your Scout has to have a Trail's End account.

You will need access to the Trail's End app to sell popcorn. Please download to your phone.

For computer access go to: www.Trails-End.com

The Trail's End sign up will automatically take you to the current month. We do not have any signups in August, so it will be blank until you navigate to September or October.

PLEASE NOTE - we have signups in Vail, Gypsum & Eagle available. Make sure you're signing up for the location you think you are! :)

If you read to the end, ask me for a prize at the Rally!

Thank you,

Heather Larson

August 17 | Popcorn Season  2023!!

Hello all!

A couple of questions have come up that I wanted to address to the group.

1) I made an error in the Popcorn Rally information. 2023 Popcorn info & tasting will be at the Popcorn Rally on August 27. Please watch your email for more details!

2) Not all storefront dates are in Trail's End yet. We are spreading out through the valley this year, as we kind of saturated our Eagle/Gypsum market last year - nice job Scouts!! Please take advantage of the limited Vail opportunities in the beginning of the season this year, both Safeway and ACE Vail still have spots available in September. I will be opening the rest of the storefronts this weekend, and will let you know when they're open.

3) If you can't see the storefronts, make sure your Trail's End calendar is open to "September". It automatically opens to "August", and that's not helpful :)

Thanks and happy Popcorning!

July 31, 2023 | Important Updates (Help Needed Saturday) and Kickoff Event for the New Cub Scout Year!

As we approach the end of summer and get ready for an exciting new year of Cub Scouts, we have some important updates and events to share with you. Please mark your calendars for the kickoff of the 2023/4 Cub Scout year, which will take place in a little less than five weeks!

Upcoming Events:

Saturday, August 5th, 9 AM | Clean Up Scouts Storage

Join us this Saturday as the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts come together to clean out our joint storage locker near the Airport. We would appreciate some extra hands to help out. If you're available to join us, please contact Wayne Nelson at 970-376-5848.

Sunday, August 27, 2023 | Popcorn Kickoff + Ice Cream Social

Let's start the year with a bang! Join us for our Popcorn Kickoff event, where we'll share details about our fall Popcorn Sales, taste test some delicious popcorn, and beat the heat with refreshing ice cream. More information will be provided soon.

Sunday, September 10 | Scout Rally Night + Sept Den Meeting

This is a critical event for our pack, as we formally kick off the year and welcome new Scouts to join our ranks. We'll gather as a pack to discuss the calendar, important information for parents, and then break out into dens to plan the year ahead.

Recruit New Scouts:

We're on the lookout for new Scouts to join our pack! If you know of any interested kids, please share information about Cub Scout Pack 229 with them. It's a fantastic opportunity for them to learn and grow while having a great time with their peers. This document is a great start for parents - Cub Scout 229 Pack Info.

Stay Tuned for the Formal Calendar:

We are currently finalizing the official pack calendar with Calvary Church. Once it's ready, we'll share it with you to help you plan and prepare for all the exciting events ahead.

Thank you all for your ongoing support, and we look forward to seeing you at the upcoming events. Together, we can make this year an unforgettable one for our Cub Scouts!

Yours in Scouting,

Jack Gaither
